This summer, I need to upgrade my ageing Athlon XP 2200, SDRam server box. Seeing that I've become a tad bored of revising right now, I thought I'd take a look at what I could afford to spend.
I've come up with:
AMD Sempron 64 2800+
Asus K8N-VM
512mb OcUK Value PC3200 RAM
Antec Minuet II Case w/ 220W SmartPower PSU
I am trying to decide whether I should stick with Socket 754 or put it on AM2 but I'll leave that aside for now since that's not what I'm asking.
The Antec Minuet II Case. Reviews suggest it's well built but what's other's impressions?
How noisy would it be with the above spec? It needs to be relatively silent, as thats a current problem with the Athlon XP system, which I'd like to resolve. The system will be on 24/7 almost all year round. Will the PSU be stable enough, and stay relatively quiet? Chances are, the system will be folding on a longterm basis.
Does anyone know whether the case will fit an Akasa Evo 33 HSF? I'm asking as the cpu will need effective cooling if I plan to keep the system quiet.
Finally, are there any other alternatives? Ideally I quite liked the Silverstone TJ08 case but £71 excluding PSU is a little out of my budget. Alternatives need to be relatively small, thus why I'm looking at the Micro ATX form factor.
