Hi,
I was looking at buying the antec Three hundred for a new build, but it looks a bit to plain for me. so now i've decided on the antec nine hundred instead as i like the look of it more, does the nine hundred have good airflow and space inside it?
It's probably going to have an Arctic Cooling Freezer XTREME CPU cooler in it, everything will be powered by a corsair TX 650W PSU and possibly a large graphics card will be in it.
will it all fit into the case? and is there still nice cooling inside or are you paying more for the looks

its a great case, the newer revisions have better cable management.

The airflow has always been its selling point although the newer 1200 is prob better with the dust filters etc.

the extra ?£40? for the twelve hundred doesn't seem to be worth it from what i see really so the nine hundred should do.

the extra money from the 300 to the 900 doesnt make any sense either :)

id say get an antec 300 and shove some LED fans in the front if thats the sort of lookm you are after.

Totally agree, the 300 is a great case for the money, and should be big enough for almost all hardware, plus it cools pretty well.

However, the case is something you have to live with a lot and for a while if you're not into rebuilding your rig very often. I got an Akasa Zen to begin and it was just poo for cooling my system even though it looked nice. Spent a bit more money on a P182SE and haven't looked back. I won't be changing it unless its a complete necessity.

i'm really torn between the two really, they're both good coolers(i've read) and quite roomy but i think the 900 looks a lot better really.
one problem that's stopped me again is some comments on a few sites about the amount of dust the 900 collects. Is the 300 the same/worse for collecting dust?
if it's the about the same for dust collecting then the cost between the two cases can just buy filters for the 300. Quite confused now it's really one of these 2 that i want.

also the sizes of the two
300=45.8 (H) x 46.5 (D) x 20.5 cm (W
900=54.6cm (H) x 26.9cm (W) x 53.6cm (D)

is the 300 able to fit huge graphics cards in it? and large CPU coolers like the arctic cooling freezer xtreme

Although very basic, the Antec 300 is a superb case for the money. Lots of places to host 120mm fans, and really easy to work with.

the only thing i don't really like about the 300 is the fact it looks basic and the 900 looks better and sort of looks higher spec'd

edit: i've read you need a PSU with really long cables for this case, i have a corsair TX650W will the cables on that reach everything? they're pretty long

If i was to watercool the CPU inside an Antec 300, would there still be a good airflow inside the case to cool the motherboard and grapgics card(s)?
i want to start simple with water if i choose that method.

i prefer the p182 to be honest

im very 'meh' about 'gamer' cases

prefer style/performance but would go for the 1200 over the 900 for two reasons

black interior

a little bigger

great cable management from what i have seen

dust filters etc

more room for future upgrades

could fit a watercooling kit in there if you wanted

it would be a better long term investment in my opinion

and i agree with tetsu *runs off in same direction*

i have to agree with that.

if i was in the OP's shoes now i would not buy either case.

i have an antec 300 now and plan to upgrade to either a silverstone or the p182 some time near crimbo.

dont get me wrong the antec 300 is a good case and ive had no problems with it, infact i actually expect the cooling to get worse what ever i upgrade to. but i find myself after a more classy case. i think you will feel this way after having either the 300 or 900 for a few months. if you must buy one, get the 300 simply cos its cheaper and you wont loose so much when you upgrade :D

edit: what im trying to say is that if you can, id wait, gather more notes and buy a better case

edit2: also running

Nothing wrong the 900, it isn't that dusty, just wipe the front every so often :p

doesn't the top fan just draw in a lot of dust as dust falls? because £38.50 for the antec 300 compared to the 900 at £69.87 i like the look of the 900 but don't see the cost as bieng really worth the difference

Edit: anyone got a link to any antec 300 case mods on this forum? eg. adding a side window?

I can see your running away from the idea of a 900, but here info anyway

I've got 2 x 8800gtx in mine and hopefully 2 new 280's in it tommorow I'll post back if they dont fit

A tuniq 120 tower cpu cooler fits inside 131mm x 108mm x 153mm reference

and if your worried about PSU size, mine has a Depth 14 cm Height 8.6 cm Width 15 cm and it fits ok, although bottom graphics card is close (fingers width) to it

its not bad at all for dust,

had mine a year now and there is a tiny build up on the edge of the fans, I'd say you'd prob have to give it a good clean every 18 months plus looking at my case.

its a nice case, i'm gonna try and get me something a little more quiet and larger though ;)

I agree with Edgey as well
but i find myself after a more classy case >>> what im trying to say is that if you can, id wait, gather more notes and buy a better case

This is a touch better in my opinion, and the man has made it stunning
