Shuttle AM2 platform?

Hi All,

Here in orlando now, i did want the new shuttle case for amd's am2 cpu etc. i can't find anywhere selling this that takes a uk credit card and will post to my hotel! Doh! :(

Change of plan i think, i will now have to go this route with this case etc.

So will this Antec NSK1300 ATX Cube Case - 300W PSU (CA-059-AN) or Antec Aria Micro ATX Cube Case - 300W PSU (CA-021-AN)
with the said power supply be sufficient to run a AMD AM2 64 x2 5000+, also i've heard the power supplies could be a little noisy would anyone recommend a power supply to fit?
Also i'll be running it with either 1Gb or 2Gb of ram, a 80Gb hdd and a geforce 6600 pci express card.

Anyone have any opinions on this setup, for the power supply being too small?

Thanks :)

I have an Aria and the PSU is running an Opteron clocked to 2.4, 1.5Gb ram, 1HDD, 1DVD and an X850XT - so they're fairly decent. However, you can't replace them as they're a special design.
If you can possibly afford it get a Silverston Sugo and a better PSU. If not, get an Antec NSK4400 and put up with not having a very small PC ;).

I do like my Aria, but I find myself recommending people away from it more and more - it has a fair few niggles.

The Sugo Evo sorts most of the cooling issues that people found with the original Sugo.

Worth going for the new version unless you can get the original very cheap.

My roommate uses an Antec Aria for his rig - it runs an Athlon XP 3200, with a 9800Pro and a gig of ram.

He has to run it with the side off at all times, or the CPU pretty much self-destructs and he gets BSODs/crashes everywhere.

I know he was planning on taking the thing into Uni and modding it to improve cooling, however he never really got around to doing it. I know as well the evnironment he uses the computer in is quite hot/stuffy and dusty, so he finds himself with a high ambient temperature and the CPU fan needs cleaning often.

The NSK1300 looks to have some extra vents, not sure what difference this would make but i'm afraid i'm going to have to recommend steering clear of the Aria - if you like the design go for the NSK.

:D Thanks guys for the info, and advice re these cases. May have to go the nsk route then, though as much as i'd like the shuttle it's non upgradable which puts me off it.
Does the nsk antec case, have the same warranty etc as the other though?

Thanks again ;)

Well i've decided to go with the Aspire X-Qpac Micro Atx, so if need be i can upgrade the psu and it's still a resonable size i guess. At least i can upgrade the mobo as and when with out any trouble, really have to decide now on what heatsink/fan to get for the AM2 5000+ to make this a very quiet pc. Think the zalman am2 will suffice :D

Thanks guys for the advice

Would anyone comment as to if i should be able to get a Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Aero Flower (Socket AM2/939/754) CPU Cooler (HS-021-ZA) into this case Antec NSK1300 ATX Cube Case - 300W PSU (CA-059-AN) or Antec Aria Micro ATX Cube Case - 300W PSU (CA-021-AN) at all, with out it being too close to any components please ?

Cheers

It won't fit at all I'm afraid. You're restricted to lower profile CPU coolers like the CNPS7000 and 8000.
