Hey guys, sorry to ask but i've been looking through the search function and i cant find the thread for people with p-180 cases.

If anyone has it, could you please copy it, so i can delete this post after?

Thanks

Mainly after information about wether or not its possible to mount a 2nd fan in the lower chamber infront of the HDD removeable tray.

I really doubt it tbh. Why would you want to anyway? I have the intake and exhaust fans on low setting and the lower chamber fan on medium setting, with 4 harddrives in the lower chamber(Including a raptor) and the harddrives never go over 35-37 degrees.

I just have a spare amber floating around, thought i could put one in the bottom :P

You can fit a 120mm fan in the front of the lower chamber with a little modding (drill out the four rivets holding the bracket. I've done it and works fine.

Hmm i'll have a look at my mates case, see how to approch it.

I've yet to buy all my componants for my upgrade, so im using his as a test shell :P

dont put another fan in! - the whole bueaty of this case is that it is virtually silent my system runs with the 120mm in the bottom on low and then only a silent rear fan - thats it!

You wil lfind that the PSU and the 34mm fan in the lower chamber is ample to cool the 4 supported drives in the lower chamber

I just shifted my fan from the top to the front middle, and i put both the top and the middle fans on medium. I'm afraid to say the effect its had on cooling if negligable.

Before i just had the fans on low and the case was warmer at 40c now with the above its 38c and cpu was 65c load now is 58c. So maybe the fans on low is good.

Anyway my main question is has anyone got this constant ide led blinking? i hooked up hdd 1 and 2 wires and the damn blue led constantly blinks.. why? any ways to stop it bar unplugging it?

Looking around the web i saw this........

" I have a P5B Deluxe board that I'm installing into an Antec P180 case. The P180 has a bunch of front-panel cables to connect to the motherboard. Two of them are hard drive activity indicators, labelled "HDD LED I" and HDD LED II". However, I can't seem to find anywhere to connect them. The "Q-Connector" that ships with the P5B has spots for power and reset switches, a power LED, speakers (?), and an IDE LED. Nowhere in the manual for the board can I find mention of HDD activity connectors.

Can I hook up my HDD LED I cable to the IDE LED spot on the Q-Connector? I don't have IDE hard drives; I have two SATA drives (soon to be four drives in RAID 10).

If I can't hook up a HDD cable to the IDE spot, is there anywhere on the P5B Deluxe to hook that cable up?"

Now i cant see the difference between IDE activity and IDE LED??

The HD led should be pugged into the IDE LED. If done correctly your IDE light will blink to show IDE activity (or rather sata HD in your case). The only way to stop it from blinking is to unplug it. Not many boards supply a slot for the HD led II connector - don't worry about that. The speaker plug is where you should plug your small motherboard speaker in - normally a red and black wire. This speaker allows you to trouble shoot your system when it malfunctions. The bios will transmit 'beep' codes to the speaker such as:

1 Beep - all is ok
4 short beeps - cpu fan failure

etc etc etc.

Your system will function perfectly fine if you dont have the ide led, power led, speakers plugged in but as stated troubleshooting can be difficult without a beep code.

Thanks for that mate, i have in the past just left the ide led unplugged as the blinking annoys. I know what you mean about the speaker and might take one out of an older case, it is nice to have a diagnostic sound, but lucikly at the mo i have no problems. :)

Touch wood. :p
