Hi,

Bought a P180 a while ago pretty much when they came out. I've noticed it's been making "ticking" noises when warming up/cooling down.

The metal appears to be warping and curving away from the plastic at the edges of the side panels. The door doesn't sit flush anymore (when door closed it stands brought of the lock etc) - in fact it hasn't for some time. Its strating to look a bit tatty... and it wasn't a cheap case when I bought it. :(

Is there anything that can be done about that, or alternatively is there a standard metal case of similar proportions that is comparable? Would like a case where I can route the cables behind the motherboard for neatness/better airflow etc.

Thanks.

I've not had that problem with my P180, maybe it's an issue with the earliest models?

Does it sit near a radiator or window? Just trying to think why it would be warming up/cooling down to such extremes to cause warping.

Warping doors is common with the earlier model 2 layer doors - does your front door 2 or 3 layer? 3 layer has aluminium in the inside of the door, 2 layer does not.

Mines also started to warp the aluminium overlays on the outside but this is after 3 1/2 year of owning it.

As for the ticking - can't say mine does that

Nope - no aluminium on the inside of the door so I guess its two layer. I guess the cold weather lately hasn't helped. I do have central heating but the pc is a fair distance away from the radiator.

It looks like the layers are seperating on the side panels. May see if I can split them myself and reglue them or something. In fact may strip it down and mod it a bit as there's no holes in the motherboard support plate as with the later models to allow cables to routed a bit more neatly.

Yeh mine is warping aswell, can you fix it? keep the side off for week or 2?

From what I have read you just have to wait till it stops warping when the temperature stabilizes then just try and bend it back into shape. People seem to have mix success on whether they fix it or break the plastic hinges in the process :S
