The stupid ATX 12V 4-pin connector wont reach. About 3 inches too short.

My poor Conroe rig now just sits there without power.

Woe is me.

Nightmare mate, I have a p180 and I was fearing the same thing, I bought a Enermax Liberty 620w and its leads stretch nice and long.

Is there a extension cable available? I would have thought so.

 er?

I know it's a pain in the rear end. But it'll give you power. :p

How? If I try and stretch it any more its going to snap. o.O

Surely you mean P180 + My PSU = fail?

Maybe. If the heatsink was smaller though it would have fit. Similarly, if the power supply fitted in at the top it would have fit. Its just the mixture of the two that makes it fail.

Take off sidepanel.
Make stack of books next to case.
Put PSU on books.
Plug PSU cables in.
PC works.

This way you'll be up and running until you get your extension.

theres a extension cable that you can buy but not from OcUK, i carnt remember the full name but its a Silverstone..... something or other.

If you want to do any sort of cable management you need to extend most PSU's cables.

You can get an adapter quite cheapily if you hunt about. :)

Thanks. Ill look into getting a cable. But for now Ive done what a couple of you suggested and just put the PSU outside the case.

Everything seems to be running nicely. Once I do a few more tests Ill start playing. :D

Get your soldering iron out. Will take about half an hour to do a tidy job including braiding the cable.

Its what I had to do, but its well worth it for a clean install:

(4 pin is on the very top left of that board!)

Im getting the P180 case and a Seasonic psu. So i should look around for cable extenders.

on another note how was the case for building in?

Its NOT just the case and the psu... Its the mortherboard thats important too.. Some of them have the power connectors located such that extensions are NOT needed. If the power connectors are located where the 24pin one is on my picture above then you should be ok, BUT if your 4 pin is over the other side of the board (like my one is) then you may run into trouble, depending on your psu.

To answer your other question, its a nice easy case to work with. No removable tray, but still nice and easy to work around :D

Cheers,
Sam C

I have no soldering iron :(

Pfffft. You can buy one worth having for about a tenner. Get some solder, some heatshrink and a few reels of wire and have a few practice goes before trying it for real.. Its easy and well worth learning to do.

Have you tried running the cable like so, underneath the pci/apg/pci-e cards etc,
