Afternoon all, if i may i would like some advice.

ATM i have an antec 900, it looks ok i guess but loud, no dust filters and im getting fed up with it, had it about 3 years and just want a change.
After looking around for what seems like forever i LOVE the look of the p183, ill be modding it with a window as i cant seem to find one to buy anywhere and im just wondering what some REAL users thoughts are, not a reviewer you find online etc.

any horror stories? and stories of pure brilliance? or would you all suggest something simillar? nock ya self out!
 
I've got a P183.

The only issue I have is the stock fans being a bit rubbish and also the top fan spot being noisy and putting out vibrations. Whether or not this noise bothers you depends on your definition of quiet computing.

Anyway I have since removed the top fan and installed a piece of 3mm clear acrylic to block the hole.

I don't have a window but have considered one as I do have quite a lot of LEDs inside my case, which seems a shame not to show off. I'm not altogether clear on the noise increase that would be caused by a window fitment.

The side panels actually do a great job. There is a world of difference to noise coming from the case with it off compared to with it on. Sure any side panel will give you a difference but this noise change is marked. The front panel blocks a lot of noise from intake fans but noise is increased somewhat by the semi-restrictive grille and filters up front.

My recommendation if you do get a P183 is to remove the top fan shaped metal pieces and the grilles on all fans to reduce the noise signature before you install your kit. Also give the inside a nice coat of black paint.
 
I've got a p193 and it's as good as silent, looks tidy, keeps everything cool, sufficient cable management, plenty of room to work inside. No hesitation in recommending it.
 
Have a look at the Fractal R2 and R3, very similar in design. I'd be tempted to get an R3 if I ever got rid of my Mini P180 (MATX)
 
I've just inherited a HAF 932 so will be selling my Antec P182 (very similar to the P183, very subtle differences...)
