Hi,

I recently have overclocked my Core2Duo E8400 to 3.6 GHz, but temps while running prime95 on stock cooler started to reach above 80 degrees. The question is:

Does anyone know what CPU cooler would fit to this case and fit on my motherboard Asus P5Q-Pro?

Many thanks in advance

Well done on choosing such a great and I think under appreciated case.

the Zalman CNPS9500A LED fits a treat without any mods to the case at all. It provides just enough clearance to slide in and out in the usual manner.

I ran one with a Q6600 at 3.4 for over a year no problems, with my temps never getting over 50 degrees on prime and idling in the low 30s.

Alternativly I understand a lot of the Noctua horizonal fan set ups (blowing air down onto heatsink as per stock coolers) work very well.

Or if you don't mind cutting your case a little you can fit the Fenrir.

I've traded in the Q6600 for a i7 and modded the case a bit (it's the same case as in the earlier pics).

Would I be correct in assuming a freezer 7 pro would fit into one of those? 80 is bad for a chip rated at 72.4. Good thing those stock coolers use such high quality paste :)

Assuming you've cut the cowling (IMO they should come pre cut) the max height cooler you can fit is 156mm. This is determined by the clearance under the top fan

good choice mate, i put the 9900a led in mine but im thinking it was kind of overkill, but i had to have blue!!! show some pics/progress i wants to see

A H50 will fit on it with no problem. I use one on my skelly. The rad and fan attaches to the side mesh with no issues.

Only slight downside is that you wont be able to slide the mobo tray out without taking the rad off - doesnt bother me though.

Sorry for the poor pic, its the only one where you can sort of see the H50 mounted:

Very nice Paul. W

I'm currently putting a Waterloop into my Skelly or should I say onto.

I'm planning to route the tubing out the back so that I can slide mobo tray out easy without having to detach anything.

You know, for a case that's not popular, there's a fair few of us modding it these days.

Im going to be selling my skelly soon :(

Although I love the case, its just not practical for me anymore. Im now going to LAN's more often, and taking my PC to friends houses for garage lans etc, and its just horrible having to nurse it everywhere. The worst is when I need to carry it to the car when its raining outside!

Going to go to the other end of the scale and go mini-itx shortly.

G-Dubs - have you ever thought about sending Antec pictures of what you have managed to do with this case? You work is of such standard they could possibly ask you do sponsored builds.....
