I'm putting in some hard drives i got from ocuk's b grade section :)

So instead of one 200gb drive it will be
80
160
200

I've only got a rear case fan, do you think i will need to buy a 120mm fan for the front to keep the hard drives cool? Or will they be ok if i space them out?

thanks

also what fan would you recommend *under a tenner*? I have got a noiseblocker but its a 80mm..would that fit?

Thanks

Akasa Amber fan, perfect.

Better to be safe than sorry, running them would be fine but may be a little to toasty for my personal liking. May reduce the lifespan of the drives and a fan is not to expensive.

You could ghetto mod the 80mm down, but at the price of a low noise 120mm who would want to. :)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Akasa_Fans_97.html £11 though :(

cool thanks for the response. I'll order one of those fans :) Are they quiet if they're just plugged into a fan header on the motherboard?

thnx dude

I noticed that as soon as I had 3 or 4 drives, my temps were pretty high (50-60+ at a guess - HOT to the touch) in an Antec 3700Amb case.

I put an Akasa Amber 120mm down the front and the temps are now sitting at around 35C.

Have to say they are good fans, and very quiet!!

Sorry to change the subject dude but you've one of these cases and so have I..

Does your DVD-RW or whatever kinda stick out from the case? Not so much that you can't shut the black door but so you can see the silver metal of the drive?

You just need to select different holes for the screws on the side of the drive, then it would go in fine.

And the Ambers are about the best fans you will find for £10, at 5v they are silent. 12v quite low noise indeed.

^^ yeah what he said.

At first the drive was poking out but you just need to adjust the rails on either side of the drive. trial and error :)

Thanks for your feedback, will deffo order a fan then :)

I looked on the manual online, but how do you install the front fan? pull off the front panel? i'm worried i'll break it if anyone could lemme know how to do it i would be grateful.

thanks :)

It goes inside the PC, if you look just inside from the 3.5in drive mounts, it goes on those holes there. Some rubber mounts come with the case for it. There's a filter inside the front panel but that slides out the bottom of it, you don't need to take the front panel off.

ah thanks, i did take off the front panel to notice no fan mount. I see where you are talking about, unfortunately my x1800xt is a v.long card and the pcie power cable pretrudes from it and would get in the way of the fan. So i can't really mount it anywhere ><. Also i didnt get those rubber mount things. I take it you mean the ones similar to what the rear fan is held with?
