Just built myself a system around the Antec Sonata II case and I'm really happy with it, great case. I also bought a Akasa 120mm case fan to mount as a front inlet fan, as the Sonata specs says, "1 front 120mm case fan (optional) 25mm thick". Now, I may be being a complete dumbass here, but I just can't see where to fit this 120mm fan! I removed the front bezel and the slide-out filter, but couldn't see anywhere to mount it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, please? Cheers!

Not sure if its the same but i have an Antec Sonata 1 and you mount the front fan on the HDD cage. Ie u have the front filter then the HDD cage is behind this then there are 4 holes on my HDD cage and thats where it goes so its hanging over the motherboard. Hope that makes sense if not will try and show u graphically.

Ahhh, I see what you mean... Yeah, that would work and it seems like the only possible place to put it, too! It's not what I would call an ideal position, but I'll try it out. Thanks! :)

I treid this just the other day. However getting the screws through the holes and into the plastic is really tough - you either need some kind of special right angeled screw driver - which I don't have - or a really long screw driver so you can come from the other side of the HDD drive cage.

If you have any tips on the best way to do this - I'd be very grateful!

Can't you use those rubbery-plastic 'screw' things, like they use for the rear outlet fan? There are 4 spare ones along with all the case screws etc. Haven't tried yet as I'm still monitoring my system temps to see whether to bother. Currently system temp hasn't exceeded 40c so might not be arsed :)

I've never seen 'em for sale, but then I've never really looked! I guess you might be able to find something similair at a hardware/DIY store. Or you could just improvise! A fan isn't too heavy, so you might even be able to get away with some kind of silicon sealant to "glue" it in place.

Another quick question about the case, does the wind tunnel type thing really improve cooling much? It's just so massive and bulky and very 'in the way'. Would be a pain to have to remove it everytime I wanted to go into the system.

Worth just leaving the whole thing off?

I just left it off. It's easy to remove and, IMO, it just restricts airflow. I guess the only advantage would be that it might offer some acoustic damping. As you say, you'd soon get pee'd off having to remove it all the time everytime you wanted to mess around inside.
