I've had my new pc for a while now with this case, is it normal for the bit behind the front door to collect loads of dust? Or is it just a hint that I need to vac more???

Also when I was building it I read about being able to install a fan in the front as well? What sort of fan fits and how do you go about fitting it?

Thanks

It takes another 120mm fan, dust will collect more if you pc is on the floor,if it is then try putting it on your desk or a little higher to stop the dust build up.

Oh right I assumed the fan would go to the right of the hard drive bays in that pic, kind of inside the black front casing.
Not really got much choice but the floor, guess i'll ahve to keep cleaning it out, inside the actaul case is fine, just seems big build up inside the door

Hi there,

I recently modded mine as i felt it was very poor for airflow, i have moved my HDD above my DVD drive and bungeed it into place, so it is nice and silent.

I have also cut away at the HDD bay to make more air get through.

All my fans are now running @ 7v even one my big typhoon, and temps are abough 10 - 15 degrees cooler idle & load!! thats with a 6300 clocked @ 3.15ghz (35 idle & 49 load)

At least that dust is being caught in the filter and not getting stuck in your fans and heatsinks.

I had the original Sonata for a while, and the filter needed cleaning about once a week to once a month depending on how dusty the room was.

I also put a 120mm fan behind the hard disks, and didn't notice any cooling benefit at all. It's too far away from the front intake to force more air through there, so I think it just contributes mainly to circulating air round the case.

If you want less dust in your room, I recommend a Dyson, they're really good. :P

i own the sonata II, and i found that it collects more dust on the 'stand' that i have it on, than it did when it was on the floor  but it is definatly a dust magnet...even with just the rear exhaust  i really chould clean it more, i've only cleaned the filter twice in a year....and just incase you mean a very fine white dust collecting around the door, then i had that aswell, can only assume the filter is doing a great job...

Thats the stuff I mean!

yes, well... i found that after about 6-7 months it just stops building up, but it IS fine...and apparently normal...one of my friends had the same thing with his sonata, doesnt seem to cause a problem, so don't worry
