So the new Antec Sonata is available for pre-order and it looks quite nice, I wonder what the cooling is like compared with the Sonata II.

It looks pretty good, but I have to say from that picture I prefer the looks of the Sonata II. I truly hope they have addressed the issue of cooling as for £90 there are much better alternatives.

Unfortunately it doesn't indicate where the front intake fits.
If it's behind the hard drives like the original then I'm not overly bothered and I'll probably stick with my intended upgrade of an Akasa Mirage.
If it's in front of the hard drives, then I may be tempted as I really like the look of it, and my Sonata 1 has been a good case (apart from the position of the intake fan).

by the looks of it the internal layout looks exactly the same as the 2, so i think they have just added a few extra curves on the outside to make it look pretty but left the inside the same :P

That's pretty much it. That plus the Earthwatts 500W PSU, which is supposed to be very good apparently. Though at this stage, an Akasa Zen + PSU of Choice would still be better value I reckon.

why do they change it when its pretty much the exact same case juse +50watts?

i think its looks slightly better but you could get a lian li pc - 7 and a 500w psu for that kinda money.

Must be just a little extension strategy on Antec's part to keep the Sonata series alive. They did the same with the Sonata I in fairness.

Perhaps antec should be looking at a brand new midrange case.
