I am considering getting the Antec NSK4400 case as it looks like the best bet for a quiet pc in my budget.

Currently I have a full tower case and am using an old Zalman flower cpu heatsink http://www.overclockers.com/articles350/

My question is, does anyone know if this heatsink with it's very large fan, will fit inside the NSK4400. And if not, does anyone recommend a quiet replacement cpu cooling solution?

Cheers

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Yes, that should fit into the case. Modern heatsinks are far larger than the Zalman Flowers - for instance I put a Freezer 64 Pro in my brother's NSK4400 and it fitted fine. I'd be more concerned about motherboard compatibility than case compatibility.

I can't guarantee it will fit, especially with the crazy fan mounting system, but it probably will.

If you want recommendations for a new CPU heatsink then it really depends on what CPU you'll be cooling, and how much you're willing to spend. :)

just built a PC around the NSK6000 for a mate which is the same width as the 4400 and we have a CNPS9700 in there with room left

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

My cpu is only an AthlonXP 2100 so nothing really powerful.

I noticed that some heatsinks like this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-030-TR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=821
don't have fans on them. If I was to use one would the rear case fan be enough or would they still need a fan sitting over the top of them.

I guess I'll just give it a go and see. I've always been happy with the one I have as it's whisper quiet and everything is very stable. Just didn't want to start putting the case together and then realise it didn't fit and have the pc out of action while I waited for a replacement.

All's well...

Well thanks for all the advice. I no have everything installed.

I had no problems at all and the case is JUST able to close with the CPU cooler's strange fan system in place. The case's cooling funnel fits almost exactly over the 120mm cpu fan.

I have managed to get the system temp down by 10c and cpu temp by probably 5c. All that and it's much quieter too :-)
