Anti Case Question

Ok - maybe a strange question but here goes;

due to the strange setup I am after I would like to know whether people think having a case is important?

My plan is to "wall mount" the mobo, HDDs and power.

Not just screw them to the wall but not far off either, the power would sit on a beam 30cms from the ceiling and then the mobo attached to some wood screwed to the beam with the hd drives also mounted.

now what are the major issues with doing this? I will enclose the area and add a few fans front and back so air circulates, but what I want to know is, if it isnt needed will a lack of a case be a big issue?

(power will be easy enough to sort with a button attached to the enclosure)

why not. (there is a good reason but I will only explain if everyone just answers with why! :) )

I "could" just buy a case and stick it on the floor.

but I want to do something a bit different.

I want to check that the case serves no other purpose than as a store.

well dust I had thought about so can enclose it with airflow for ventilation, now if you are right about grounding the mobo that would be an issue.

but are you sure?

as for moving it, I wont need to move it and that is one reason to make it more of a "feature" rather than a case.

well if I decide to go a head I will share my experience.

but knowing me Ill bottle it and buy a case! :(

:)

that was where I first got the idea.

i had all mycomponents on my workbench to try and find a faulty part.

my psu had nice long cables and stuff was spread out everywhere.

no issues arose!

:)

yes there will be a case of sorts protecting against dust and exposure.

not really thought what I will make the case from, probably old computer cases which I can cut up and play around with! :D
