Anti-muslim sentiment - does it really exist?

Just an observation, so I sincerely hope no one takes offence, if they do I apologise in advance :)

Most of the time, I read about quite a lot of anti muslim sentiment on GD, of course, this is often fuelled by the media, but nonetheless I thought I would take a break and visit a few other forums to clear my mind because it can be quite nausiating (sp?) at times having the same thing told and regurgitated over and over.

So I was visiting my old haunts e.g. home cinema websites etc. However, just to satisfy my curiosity, I did a search in google and clicked on a popular white supremeicist (sp?) website forum to find out other people's opinions (won't post any links because this is a family forum so don't ask) but I am actually really quite shocked  Posts about muslims hardly get any views and are shot down by the vast majority of posters with comments such as 'good on them', even the forum polls are very favourable, and most say that it is all a pre-text for the Iran situation  (Disclaimer: I do not buy into any right wing ideology so don't flame me, this is not an opinion just an obervation, and no I am not comparing like for like before anyone asks :))

In fact, they are just against Israel and Jewish people? :) I'm really confused, just seems a bit strange to me, because you would expect this form of hate to be common but in reality it is very selective?

Im pretty sure Anti-Muslim Sentiment does exist to a small minority. Pretty much the same way that a small minority of Muslims have an Anti-British hate. It just seems that Anti Muslim is more prominent. As far as I am concered and a presume the huge majority in this country Muslims dont bother us one bit, we only get angry at some extremists that tend to only fight against us just because of who we are and that we dont share the same religious views. Who developed/discovered/invented religion? Its caused near enough every war in History in one way or another, Isnt it time we all just accepted that people believe different things and get on with it? Surely its not worth dying for, well not in my beliefs it isnt.

White supremascist is a synonym for neo Nazi, and as the saying goes my enemies enemy is my friend.

True, but most cutting edge topics are off limits on the forums and the dons 'usually' favour the majority opinion. As has been said a million times before, this forum does not subscribe to free speech ;) Won't say any more than that as it is not my place, the FAQ will explain all :)

Can I ask where this argument has come from?

You know it's weird. There's only been one religion that keeps fightingy against every other.o I'm sorry but I think I do have a valid point, but i'm just far too drunk to even type.

Yep is there anybody the christians haven't fought, conquered, enslaved, tried for heresy, destroyed the indigenous culture and exploited.

your post confuses me..

so people were ripping into muslims??

if thats the case, then cant you see any justification for it? bombers, 9/11, their hatred for usa and uk then their latest rubbish about the nazi's being fictional.

For a few years there's been a little bit of collection of hardline posters - much as I dont always agree with them, I have to always see both sides of an argument, so I think they're valuable as I'm usually the other way politically. For the same reason I occasionally read the Daily Mail, it keeps a balance on my views :) Does that make sense?
