Anyone got any recommendations for matting that actually works?

I've tried the rubberised stuff (the black grid matting type stuff that comes on a roll and also doubles up as matting to put in the bottom of tool chests) - it's fin useless. Trying to stop a rug sliding on a laminate floor or more specifically trying to stop kids and dog using rug to surf the living room.

Can't use an adhehsive of any sort because of having to hoover under the rug.

Not keen spending £20 to "trial" something random off Ebay etc - I'm after solid recommendations of something that definately 100% works on laminate.

Ta :)

My local carpet centre has this rubber grip matting that is cut to the same size as the rug - works an absolute treat but just make sure it's cut to slightly shorter than the rug size as it looks rubbish if it's sticking out.
