Anti static

hi guys before i try my first build ive heard about anti static wrist braclets to my parts from not working.
Any advice is welcome

Do i need any anti static bracelets ?

It is not nescessery but recommended - then you can be sure you won't damage any part.

or just make sure you touch metal (side of the case) regularly to discharge any static

dont buy one, you dont need one.

i thought about it too on my first build and now i realise how much of a waste they time they are.

simply touch the side of your case and take care handling things and you will be perfectly fine.

waste of money imo.

I have an antistatic mat+wrist strap. I use it for laying motherboards and circuit boards etc on. and powering it up without a case. But for general use, I tend not to if its inside a case. Just keep it plugged in but Switched off at the wall.

its fine without one aslong as your not touching the chips and circuits, just keep touching the case or a grounded object and you should be fine

I have never used any either,I just touch my psu or case a lot to ground myself

I didn't build mine with one, just touched the case , however if you want piece of mind there only a few pounds .

also dont wear nylon or high static clothes

Leave the PSU cable plugged into the back of the PSU, with the PSU switched off at the mains. This keeps the case grounded. Also touching something like a radiator before you start working will be fine.

Unless your going to stand on a nylon carpet while rubbing your hands on a TV screen then rubbing balloons on your head, I can promise you static wont bother you, leave the PSU cable in, plugged into a wall but switched off, sorted.
