Anti-Virus help please (avg)

hi guys

i have avg 8.0 on my pc and laptop, on my pc its fine but my laptop is slow with it installed, is there any other free anti virus software that doesn't slow the pc down, im not bothered if its basic i only use laptop for internet and music.

the laptop is a centrino 1.6ghz with 512mb ram, i have been on less specced machines which are a lot faster so im convinced its avg, it also uses 85 mb of ram.

NOD32 is often recommended by folks on here. I use AVG myself and have to say that 8.0 is horrible compared to version 7.

It's not wise to cut corners with the most important piece of software on your PC imo!

Avira's Antivir comes in a free version which I use on two systems. It's low on resources and it comes highly recommended. Do a search for how to disable the pop-up and you're away. I've just checked and it's 'avguard' process is using 5mb.

Yup AntiVir, switched to it from AVG here, much better.

NOD32 AV is great protection and sorta lightweight too.
