i have a laptop running avast free edition and i use malwarebytes for anything else

Superantispyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot 2 full scans and delete all they find. If still infected run ESET online scanner. Check your browser shortcuts properties and make sure they haven't had a naughty search engine added.
