Anti virus?

With AVG Free coming to an end today i'm going to need to fit a new anti virus. any recommendations guys? I've heard avast is good so i may try them.
 
I think you have your wires crossed, AVG 8 free is just that, it is free and is not being discontinued.
If you are referring to the C-Net article of the 30day period trial and then parts cease to function, it was wrong.
But if you want to try another one that is free Avast is good and so is Avira.

Wait.. isn't 8.0 the new version that they keep bugging people to pay for? I thought they'd be discontinuing updates on avg free.. or am i missing something here.
 
Yeah, i just asked a few people i know and they've mentioned how grisoft's support on the product will be ending at the end of may? If this is wrong can someone tell me before i uninstall it :P
 
It's still available for download here so I guess they;re still releasing updates for it. They've never offered technical support for the free version however.
 
For a free one, i'm using AntiVir... I heard a few chaps on here mention it got a higher detection rate than most others. Been using for a while now and it seems pretty good :)
