I've been running Kaspersky on my S6 for a while now but recently Smart Manager/Device Security is reporting the Kaspersky as malware. I'm inclined to uninstall the Kaspersky but does the Device Security provide adequate protection?

So you think one the world's leading antivirus companies have made malware?

They are just clashing with each other. At worst Samsung are just identifying competing apps as malware as a consequence of looking at permissions (and if it shows ads) and haven't added them to a white list.

I'm sorry if it wasn't apparent from my post that the two were clashing. My question is that is it a good idea to keep the Kaspersky?

Yep, sorry I see what you meant now.

The ads on Kaspersky would bug me personally.

The standard would be adequate imo. Given it's Samsung, I'm sure they get enough samples submitted to be as thorough as Kaspersky.

Note, I haven't even activated it on my Samsung phone, nor do I use a third party app.

Still dont understand why anyone would need a AV on their phone. As if there isn't enough apps out which slows down your phone already.

I wouldn't bother with any malware protection on Android IMO. But it does depend what steps you've taken to modify your device security. With a recent version of Android installed, sideloading disabled and bootloader locked with no root, your phone should be secure.

If you are side loading apps on to your phone, then yeah, it would probably help.

If you are installing apps from the play store, unless you install some of the more questionable items from the play store, you should be fine and not need it.

it is all snake oil, i have spent time reading up on a well known android forum, and they said AV on andriod phones is a waste of time, they dont stop anything
