Right now I use (but I only enable Windows firewall & Avast internet security):

-Windows Firewall
-Avast
-AVG 2011
-Spybot
-Malwarebytes anti malware

But I've just read this sticky - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17180569:

1a) MKS_Vir 2004 - 321/321 0 Missed - 100%

2a) Kaspersky 5.0 - 320/321 1 Missed - 99.70% (with Extended Database ON)
2b) McAfee VirusScan 8.0 - 319/321 + 2 (2 found as joke programs - heuristically) - 99%

8) ETrust - 301/321 20 Missed - 93.76%
9) Trend - 300/321 21 Missed - 93.45%
10) Avast! Pro - 299/321 22 Missed - 93.14%
11) Panda - 298/321 23 Missed - 92.83%
12) Virus Buster - 290/321 31 Missed - 90.34%
13) KingSoft - 288/321 33 Missed - 89.71%
14) NOD32 - 285/321 36 Missed (results identical with or without advanced heuristics) - 88.78%
15) AVG Pro - 275/321 46 Missed - 85.66%

Does anyone have personal experience or knowledge on Kapersky and McAfee? I'm tempted to switch but I want some opinions first before I uninstall AVG/Avast.

Thanks

That a very old thread so not sure how the results would stand today.

My personal experience is Mcafee= lots of virus ridden pcs for me to fix
Kaspersky=no pcs for me to fix :)

Wow, you really want to base your decision on data that is 6 years old?

Eset and Kaspersky are among the best out there at the moment. Avira and MSE are very solid free alternatives.

I used to use kaspersky and it was an awsome protection suite, not used it for a good 5 years now though.

if you aren't a technical person that can't setup a video recorder without reading the instructions then i advise sticking with AVG

To be honest imo the best antivirus you can get is one called "Common Sense" :D Only go to sites you trust and your be clean as a whistle for years on end.

My comman sense is not always the best so i have MSE just to be sure :)

Mcafee used to be good then they 'updated' it some time last year and that was the last time i used it, not sure what its like 'right now' :)

Kaspersky and NOD32 are good. I've noticed McAfee is actually slower than Norton now, especially on start up.
