Antlion ModMic 4.0

Seems very expensive tbh for a mic.

V Moda Boom Pro is cheaper and less hassle. DX Clip on mic does the same job for less than £2.

Bare in mind the quality of the mic only really effects the people listening to you and when it comes to comms, so long as they can hear you and understand you clearly that's all that matter it doesn't need to be a studio grade microphone unless your a singer/music producer/broadcaster or someone who does youtube vids, etc.

Then you would want something like those Blue Yeti things tbh.

£40 for a mic just seems madness to me personally if it's just going to be used for gaming.

How decent is the cable on the boom pro? Would there be any negative effect on a expensive pair of cans? Looks kinda cheap looking though a really good idea.

Beyerdynamic also do something similar to a boompro for about the same price, though they're a bit more difficult to find. No idea how they perform though.

Also those clasps aren't reusable are they? Seems like a bit of a faff if you ever want to switch headphones.

it's very good quality that's thy it's expensive it only works with some headphones though it won't work with 558 or 598's for example, it will work with Fidelio X1's though and a lot of people have both on here.

The fidelio X1 is a £299 RRP headphone and they are usually paired together with no negative effects.

looks cheap? you should take a look at other v moda cables then or look through the link above and read reviews on head fi.

the v moda takes a pair of cans like the fidelio X1 and turns them into a gaming headset with only 1 wire you need to deal with (perfect for MIXAMPS).

it's a much better solution than the modmic IMO, if you want a mic like i said just buy a clip on from DX for £1.56

I much prefer my blue snowball(aluminium vers), yes its expensive, But then I didn't pay for it , it was a gift, but I am told its lovely and clear with no hiss or fuzzy sounds.

Btw thought id mention that Blue Microphones Tiki Ultra Compact USB Microphone isn't a bad mic for the money atm £31 in the forest atm, blue are a very good microphone company.

Not exactly ideal for gaming tbh. Plus how would I use that with my console? That's why I prefer mics with a 3.5mm jack so I can use with both my MIXAMP or PC sound card.

Good option for someone starting out making YouTube videos or something though

Ive got the X1's so thats what they would be paired with. Thanks for info will have a think.

That is very true whilst it would be great for pc not so good for console unless it would work on them also.

When my X1's arrive I will be using them with a clip on mic which cost me £1.56 tbh.

I would rather have the £35 ish in my pocket, the clip on mic does a great job, no point in me spending £35 so others can hear me even clearer, it has no effect what so ever on my experience, so that's how I justify not buying them.

I am going to USA/Canada in June/July and if I can pick them up for £20 then I could possibly do it but again I don't see any point tbh I've already spent a lot of money experimenting which I'm trying to recoup.

I have a belkin mic and cable cost me £5, two chat cables about £13 altogether and replacement cable for X1 about £12. I also have my old cans the X1's are replacing to sell on £30.

So I'm trying to cut down the spending since I have a setup which should effectively be good enough to do me for life.

I may look into them in a few years after I sell some of these extra bits I have on.

It's a very niche market and a pretty novel product. They do have fantastic sound and can be mounted on any headphone - with the V-Modas et al cannot. Admittedly I do use a crappy dx.com mic but its far from great and the ModMic offers vastly beter audio recording, it's main issue its the price (and that is the reason I dont have one!).

oh no doubt that a £40 mic would be crystal clear for that price I would be annoyed if it wasn't tbh.

Price is also my issue with mic's, just cannot justify spending that kind of money on them when the cheapy one does a brilliant job.

It doesnt do a brilliant job, it just about suffices. Yes they can hear you but its pretty damn crap in fairness haha.

Yes I can fully understand but sometimes when using a cheaper one, remmebr I had a cheapy clip on although, you wont get the bennifit. which the type of games I play ar emost proberly different, I need a clear voice, to give commands and ask for various things,

Ie I play world of Warcraft. I raid with my guild we can and do have sometimes 30 + member on our teamspeak. sometimes I help to raid lead and need to give commands or , if someone dies im shouting battle res xyz, or since im a healer im shouting for a mana cool down. on my old clipy on mic sometimes I could not be heard clearly and sometimes things wouldn't happen, it would lead to a wipe. or me standing around doing nothing lol. so in some circanstances it does bennfit you. but I agree 100% they are a lot of money. but I fele they ar eworth the money, wether I would fo bought such a mic myself is another thing, but it is bennifial in certain instances ect.

I'll need to record myself and play it back on the PS4 again and test it out.

I thought mine was pretty good tbh.

As I say, you can be heard, and hence you can say it does its job, and thats why, despite playing competitively, I've not seen a need to replace it. But its a distorted sound - you sound like you're in a cave in Afghanistan and it does pick up interference quite a lot.
