I have just mowed the lawn and I think there is a ants nest underneath, whats the best solution for nuking from orbit?

I always found the food ones that they take back to the nest work best, though not as much fun as a deodorant can and a lighter. The AntStop granules can be applied to grass with no problems. If you can find the nest it can also be watered into the soil above.

As TheCrow has said - granules that they take back to the nest is best.

Failing that, I prefer WD40 and a lighter, as long as it has the plastic nozzle on the can for a more direct approach. Works brilliantly on flying ant nests as well.

** Disclaimer ** don't blame me for any blowback in the can!

Melt down some lead and pour it into the nest :)

Some guy in the states did that, or might have been with aluminium looked really cool when they dug it out

3rd vote for Nippon, we had a nest under the drive, little critters were coming up between the block paving and in the house under the front door!

A few applications of Nippon powder along the edge of the doorstep and into the holes they were coming out of, and no more house invasion! :)

i normally just dig down open up the nest then just add bowl of boiling water with washing up liquid and some sort of menthol oil - peppermint etc. also works well on wasps nests as well........:o better than roman candles anyway lol

Nippon works a treat, we used the bait stations last year when we had a nest in the front garden. Took a couple of days and there was the odd straggler appeared now and again but eventually it succeeded in its task. We had them coming into the living room of the house from a few tiny cracks in the brickwork at the front door. To make doubly sure I dropped about half a dozen kettles worth of scalding water onto what I believed to be the main location of their nest. They didn't seem to like that much. Nuked from orbit indeed.

I did buy those antstop granules, laughing as I watch them carry them underground, little do they know what awaits.
