Hi,

How soon after passing the standard UK driving test can a person begin driving instructor training?

I'm asking because I have concerns over the fact that someone who passed her test only 8 weeks ago is now taking lessons from her former instructor so she can become one herself.

I always thought there was a minimum period of driving before you could even start the training much less become an instructor.

For some reason I thought you had to have had a license for over 3 years to drive with a learner.....might have fabricated that though!

Edit it looks like that rule is superseeded when its a trained instructor and you're paying them

Have to be over 21 and and have held a full UK license for at least 3 years.

I know that rule but I though it applied also as a minimum before you could start instructor training.

Doesn't look like it - I guess that makes sense if you're training to do it professionally
