Hey all,

Now I'm over the hurdle of getting into a sixth form with a personal statement, I've now got to look to changing it into a CV, as the next time I use it will probably be for when I come to go back to part time work.

Now the thing is, I haven't had much (well, hardly any :o ) CV writing expereince, and moreover, a personal statement is very different. It's less formatted, less factual, more opinionated, more wordy and certainly more pretentious  .

I was hoping that if I post it on here, the pros on here might be able to advise me on basic layout, but most importantly what of the wordy bits you think I need to keep. As no doubt many of you are employers :).

Personal Statement

Many thanks to all who post! :)

Hi m8.

There have been a few CV threads lately. Do a search and have a look as a lot of people have put in good advice, and you'll get links to the types of CVs other people are writing just now.

Don't forget to ask friends and family for help and examples of their own CVs, and is worth getting hold of some books on the subject. If there are are recruitment specialists nearby, maybe pop in and ask what they'd charge for helping you. I know it seems like that might be expensive, but what's a bit of cash up front for a job you really want?

TBH, all you really need to do is shorten what you've written and bullet point the important bits about qualifications etc, put some headings and your personal details in and your done. Like I said, do a search for the other recent threads, they'll point you in the right direction.
