hi all

im interested in JBL Creature II 2.1 Speakers - (Black) Retail (SP-006-HK)

really like the styling as it goes with the case i have but what is the sound quality etc like?

if anyone has any experianc of the speakers i would be interested for an opinion

thanks

Very decent sound quality - it's JBL which is part of the Harmon Kardon group so they're always going to be pretty good. :)

The sound quality is not that good. But if you like the looks, go for the creatures.
I would suggest it further, if you have me more information
1. How much budget you have?
2. Space of placing speakers (im talking about 5.1 - 7.1 system) and maybe
an amp + floor stand speaker
3. do you after head phone?

Please post in english (post 3 makes no sense at all)

Of course PC speakers are not going to compare to a proper seperate amp and speaker package - but you would be looking at spending the same amount on decent pc speakers (around £200 easily) on just an amp let alone speaker wire and the speakers themselves in a proper 5.1 setup

I have Creature II's and they are brilliant imo for the £60 or so I paid for them a year ago, I cant fault them one bit

thanks for the help guys sounds like they are the ones for me.

i will need to use head phones but i have a splitter at the pc that allows me to plug in a headset and a speaker set up so hopefully this wont cause any problems.

Plenty of bass and plenty of treble, nothing inbetween, hardly suprising considering the size of the drivers.
I bought them for the looks and playing a few games. I have heard other computer speakers do much much better at music.

Avoid unless you need the styling or are not fussy. Get something with a reasonable size midrange driver!

will only be used for general sound and a couple of pc games mainly cod2 and i never really turn the sound up high.

my sterio is 2 meters away so to be honest i will never play music through them.

baring this in mind would u say they are good enough for gaming?

thanks

First off, FrankJH, go easy on Conman eh?

For all you know, English may not be their 1st language. It's not that difficult to work out what he/she meant if you think about it for a minute. What you said is just not very polite now is it?

Now the peer regulation bit is out of the way, to the OP's question about Creature II's.

IMO, a good set of speakers if you can get them for the right price. I've got a set, and use them for a bit of everything, and although certainly not hi-fi quality, they don't assault your ears when listening to MP3s etc. Good in games with plenty of detail to be heard.

But, and theres always a but isn't there, a friend has got a set of the Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1's, and I have to say I think they are superior in sound quality if not in the looks department. Having said that, they are £30 more than the creatures, but something to think about.

I don't really see the relevance of comparing the price of a 2.1 PC speaker system with a 5.1 AV system. A fair comparison would be against stereo bookshelf speakers and a stereo amp, which 2nd hand could be had for £100, including cabling.

I totally agree with you - it was conman that started talking about 5.1 / 7.1 system to compare against these £60 Creature II's!!! ( I think you would be hard pushed to even get stereo bookshelf's for that price let alone the amp as well - but thats just my opinion)

Tooks - hold on most of his post was written relatively understandably apart from point 3, and you have to admit there are enough "lazy" writters on this forum, so writting posts properly is preferable for everyone I am sure. Saying that maybe i could have been a little more polite

Fair enough :)
