Any affordable IPS GSync 1440p screens?

Seems that the only options are IPS FREESYNC which is no good for my 980ti. The dell £500 TN panel looks good but for £500 I'd like an IPS monitor.

What's out there that is either well under £500 and TN, but still GSync and 1440p, or around £500 but IPS 1440p GSync?

Same boat as you looking at new monitors, would like to really go IPS 1440p. Only monitor I see getting constant good reviews is the DELL TN though :/

Dell S2716DG is TN 1440p and GSync, but not without issues... colour shift being inevitable at 27" TN and also pixel inversion. IPS G-Sync, closest you'll get is the Acer Predator XB271HU at £600, but I personally wouldn't touch it due to the panel being notorious for bleed, glow, QC issues and white uniformity.

It's a bit of a sucky time to be looking for a 1440p G-Sync monitor in that price range.

Yeah I know what you mean. That, along and the ROG Swift, looks epic, but for £500 I'd want better viewing angles. Realistically, I don't know how much I'd notice it but you never know. I currently use a cheap LG 32" TV, which has been great for the years I've had it, but now I want something with smaller bezels and I think GSync would be really nice to have so I could stop being limited to 60FPS. I've tried "overclocking" the refresh rate and had success on the GTX670s, but it won't work with the 980Ti for some reason. Leaving 1080p isn't essential, but 1080p on 32" is starting to look old and pixelly, especially when only two feet away..

Yeah, going by the current choices, I guessed that was the case. I wonder if/when prices will drop. I could be tempted by a used ROG Swift from MM, but am a bit nervous forking out £400 for a used item with a warranty by proxy.

If you don't feel confident about second hand, I think it'll be a case of waiting to see what new monitors crop up this year... few interesting ones on the horizon, but nothing immediately imminent. There's also B-grade of course... bit of a lottery but you can get some real bargains on there and by no means are they duff products, can sometimes just be box damage or something so minor that the saving more than compensates for it. In many cases you can still get warranty from manufacturer also, so the 90-day thing isn't necessarily an issue, as that's just through OCUK.

Yeah. I mean I've spent hundreds over the years buying used RC heli stuff via another forum, but it's a much smaller community where most people know everyone. There's more chance of issues on a larger forum, but then I guess that that's what the trust system is for.

With regards to B Grade, sadly there's nothing there except for a few 24" 1080P or 4k screens, neither of which are of insterest.

I'll keep an eye out mate, cheers!

I'll also keep an eye on 21:9 screens. GSync isn't vital, but it would be really nice to leave behind the old 60hz/Vsync tech...

Still perusing the shops, hoping to spot a bargain. Trouble is, I want 1440p. I want GSync. I want super wide. I want curved. I can't spend £700+...

I mainly play Mass Effect trilogy, and I'm getting back into Falcon BMS, which is a jet sim. My boss has just bought an Acer Predator 35" curved and it's lush. IT as £650 though, so I'm wondering which features I could do without. So far, I'm thinking that GSync isn't worth it. To run any title at 1440p+ at 144hz etc is going to need more than a single 980Ti.

Then, the problem with 21:9 is games like Mass Effect don't work with it well.

So, what is the tech to go for currently? What would you get for up to £600?

Affordable and G-sync don't go hand-in-hand. Unfortunately.

I've ordered a FreeSync monitor (Asus MG279Q) instead, simply because FreeSync doesn't really cost anything over not having it (unlike G-sync) and it will be a bonus if I ever upgrade to an AMD card. OCUK are on point with their service, after a hold up due to another item being out of stock, I managed to phone in and get it processed after 5pm today, yet I just got an email telling me it's going to arrive tomorrow. That was lightning quick!

I just hope it doesn't have any issues with it (dead pixels/backlight bleed), since it's a weekend afterwards and it was also the last one in stock. Fingers crossed or I will be sad, since it did cost almost half a grand. Though I do intend for it to last. I won't be going 4k any time soon. Not until the display standards to carry 4k120fps are more widely available and such a monitor as a 4k, ultrawide, 144Hz IPS screen exists to buy. That will be many years. Not to mention the longer wait for a GPU to power such a monster lol. I'm still waiting on the perfect GPU for a 1440p144Hz monitor.

Looks like this combo is just too expensive, or rare.

I picked up an Acer XF270HU for less than £400 today. 144hz 27' ips. It's Freesync rather than gsync, but at that price its still a steal imo. I have an Nvidia gpu atm, but who knows, my next one might not be.

Gsync sounds awesome, but it only seems to be affordable on TN 1080p displays. Anything else is £500. I just couldn't go back to a TN screen, and staying at 1080p at this point would seem like a side grade.

The only thing that made me think twice was super wide. Looks real interesting, and something i'll definitely consider next time round.

Has your's arrived yet? I finally got the guts to open up mine yesterday and it had no dead pixels or issues at first. Fast forward roughly 24 hours and I got this...

Backlight bleed at the corners if you couldn't guess. Such a shame, after all the excitement. I had a little fun not being bothered by viewing angles today, but other than that, the rest of the day was ruined after discovering the backlight issue. I sure hope you don't have to do the same... I'm completely put off monitors entirely for now.

Sorry to hear you don't like it.

Mine hasn't arrived yet, but im expecting similar issues, and i don't really care that much. Backlight bleed and glow come hand in hand with ips. Its only really an issue when your showing dark content anyway, and its way preferable to the colour shift on TN screens, which can be observed almost all of the time. I switched to ips years ago, and im used to the good and the bad that comes with it. For all the faults of ips, i couldn't bring myself to ever spend good money on a TN screen again.

Pretty much every XB271HU looks like that. I've opened several and they all had unnatural amounts of IPS glow. Put next to my other IPS screen, it looks terrible. Here's a photo comparing the two:

I mean... just wow. Completely unacceptable. This is also the best XB271HU I could find. All others were even a bigger mess when it comes to BLB, IPS glow or pixel problems.

In case you wonder, no, the brightness isn't max on XB271HU and minimum @ my other IPS monitor, they are actually both at 28 brightness, 50 contrast.

I've RMA'd it via Asus. They've accepted the RMA, but I've not gotten contacted about when they'll send someone to pick up the screen. If it goes south, I'll just refund with Overclockers. From what I hear, Asus seem to send back old monitors as replacements... not good to hear.

The thing is, when I first unboxed, there was a tiny amount of backlight bleed in the corner. I thought to myself, it's not too bad, I can live with it. But as you can see in the picture it eventually became much worse, much more noticeable, especially as I was playing Ratchet and Clank on the PS4 at the time.
