Hey,

I have a rather basic AIX question. I've never used AIX but I've been tasked to find out how many CPU's and memory a server has. I understand I can run the lscfg command to show hardware.

How does lscfg work with lpars? Say an lpar had 2 x cpu and 4gb of ram on a server with 4 x cpu and 10gb ram will it show the 2 or 4 cpus? Will lscfg show the processor cards?

I don't have access to the server yet so can't just try this. I'd be nice to know what I can get before I go in. :D .

Cheers,

Jon

I'm only learning AIX, but I would use nmon. it is a utility for measuting performance but displays if the cpu is physical or virtual for the lpar, it's model and speed. it also displays memory config and much more.

Hey,

Thanks for the nmon command. I managed to get the data from the server via the lscfg and lsconf. Those commands will show data for the lpar you are on.

Cheers,
J
