Hello, my new mobo is due to arrive tomrow morning and im a overclocking virgin :D. i can get the most of my graphics card but dont have a clue what to do with a cpu.

The mobo thats comming is the Asus M4A785D-M Pro my processor is the AMD 8450 2.1ghz. Iv'e done a bit of searching on how to overclock it but as far as i know the multiplyers are locked making it simpler :P.

Any advice would be helpful, dont want a fried cpu or mobo as im broke :D. temps idle are 18-19 degress, load are around 25 so should be able to handle the overclock heat wise.

You will need to raise the CPU ratio in the bios to over clock the old skool way :) when you do this on AM3 your HT Link will raise as will your North bridge freq. your HT link and NB i would try to keep them as close to 2000 as possible while overclocking your cpu when your happy with cpu you can overclock the NB as there some nice performance to be had....over all its a happy balance between them rather then balls out GHz on the AM3 IMO. Dont forget your memory will be overclocking itself as your raise the CPU freq so lower that as well while you sorting your CPU. This is by no means a guide but if you google AMD Phenom overclocking there are very good guides..good luck
