Over there...
Long story short I'm on garden leave for 2 1/2 months, and have the opportunity to hand my car and fuel card back early between jobs.

Doing so would net me around £1250 back in tax.

My thought is to buy a cheap car, with 6 months MOT/tax which runs for minimal mileage a week, then sell it when i start my new job. I'll obviously have to insure it, but for £25 i can cancel and claim back - i would certainly expect to clear £1000 after it all, so probably worthwhile.

the only point in doing this is to make money, so i don't want to be buying a load of trouble, or expensive car which i'll lose out on.

Have any of you seen much about fit for the criteria?

Suggestions on motors which might fit the bill?

There's a Toyota Celsior (LS400) with T&T, only a few minor flaws, up for sale on RR for ~350 quid.

Doesn't get more luxobarge for the money! For that price you could just run it into the floor and weigh it in :D

My Volvo 940, 10 months MOT and 4 months tax

£400 bargain.

I'm up Leicester way regularly enough, would it be possible to view it in the daytime during the week? if not, the weekend?

Take it the uber mods will remain intact? :)

My 2.0 Omega, 12 months MOT and 4.5 months tax

£500 inc 2 tyres

cheers mate, where are you based, and do you have any pics?

as for the others, thanks for the offers, but not really what i'm after. If anything pops up on the sites people visit - if they could me in the direction, that would be great!

Just sold it this morning sorry! I've only got one now which i need to keep lol!

Get yourself a £500 Nissan Silvia S12. Much 80's fun for peanuts. The one I had was a lot of fun and they sell easily when you are sick of it. Plenty of people seem to want to "do them up".

Oh, forgot, I've got a Renault Clio 1.2RN manual, with T&T till June, needs one tyre and if you wanted it to be perfect, a CV joint (which hasn't got any worse).

200 quid takes it away....

Best bargain by far has to be my *FREE* 97 Escort 1.6 Flight which has just passed it's 3rd MOT and in almost 4 years ownership has only let me down once which cost me a Battery (£29) and a Tyre (£30) was needed for last years MOT plus of course Fuel costs, it also costs more to TAX it than it does to insure it :(

heeheh take it you don't mean i can have it for free? :D

as for the classifieds commen t, i'd rather buy of people i (sort of) know, that total randomers...

The clio - not something i was looking for, but the price certainly is where we need to be!

where are you based mate? email? is that June inclusive, or end of may?

More here :)

It's June inclusive I think but I may be wrong, all the paperwork's present. Barring the noisy CV joint (which hasn't got worse in 3 months daily use), everything else is fine on it! Fun little thing to punt about in.

You can reach me at lskingston @ hotmail dot com if required :)
