I'm mulling the idea of getting rid of Sky, we pay £15 a month for all the channels bar sports and movies, have HD and box sets, but the splitter in the building is never going to get fixed I don't think and the majority of Sky is repeats.

Anyway to have some form of quality TV whilst also paying less? We also use Amazon Prime & Netflix.

£15 is quite cheap, you're not going to get anything equivalent for the same money. BT TV can be had quite cheaply if there's an offer on but it's essentially just Freeview with some additional channels added.

We have ditched virgin tv and sky and used the built in freeview with our TV.

It’s great, yeah we miss sky one etc but we have Nowtv and are now saving £55 a month after ditching virgin tv.

NowTV? Entertainment and Movie passes for 6 months can be had for £8.50 a month and it includes Sky1 and Sky Atlantic and a bunch of other live channels. Possibly even cheaper if you can be bothered with Ebaying passes.

I ditched Sky and went for Now TV. It is not as good. HD viewing of live channels seems pretty rare. But you do seem to get the "boxsets" in HD, and the movies, so not terrible. You also don't get to record anything, which is a big upside of Sky, but you do get most of the better on demand apps. And with the smart box, you can pause live tv for up to 30 mins.

But still fairly decent. Your £9.99 a month for movies and £7.99 a month for entertainment. But just cancel them, and you usually get offers. My last one was £3.99 per month, for movies, for 4 months, and £3.49 per month for entertainment for 4 months. When these deals expire, I will just go through the cancellation process again.

It does work out a fair bit cheaper than normal sky, but isn't as good. But coupled with Netflix and Amazon, it works out decent enough overall.

I've been close to ditching Sky for the past two years - however on each occasion I've received a 50% off offer and I've kept it. My current subscription ends in May.
However I am reading from a number of sources that Sky are just no longer bothering with retentions and that the old 40%, 50% and 60% offers aren't there any more, so it might be the point at which I leave.
I have no problem with Now being "more or less" on demand only, I rarely settle down to watch things at broadcast time anyway. It's the 720p resolution that annoys, if it was only the same broadcast quality of regular Sky (which isn't great - but fine) then I'd be there in a flash. I guess the problem is, so would everyone else!

If your only paying £15 a month I'd keep it as I don't think even switching to NowTV would save you any money.

I did the opposite, I was paying for now TV the passes along with my fiber bb it was costing circa £70 a month, I managed to get skyq silver with everything bar the sports and fiber broadband for circa £70 a month no brainer.
