Someone posted a picture of a hornet and despite being told many, many times by myself and others that it was a hornet he insisted it was a queen wasp because 'his dad kills them for a living'.

This - defo and I would say either a juvenal or a female Goshawk
The feathers on the legs rule it out to being a buzzard or ospray
Danza, I think you've just explained why no-one recognises it, since it is likely to be native to the United States!
