Any BMW owners?

I get quite bad throttle hand numbness on my S1000R after about 25 minutes ride. I've fitted bar risers and grip puppies to no avail. If bar end weights don't work I'll likely look into the Ducati Supersport next year. Poor me.

If you suffer numbness with an inline 4 a twin is going to give you more issues. Test ride first.

The s1000r is a famously buzzy bike, and the only il4 I've ridden that caused me issues with vibrations.

Vtwins will vibrate rather than buzz which some people could find a lot more bearable.

I have just swapped a KTM 1190 for the S1000r. The BMW is far smoother.

Looks, buzziness or any other concern are immaterial to me.

Just how reliable are BMWs compared to Japs?

I need a bike that fires up every morning, without fail.

I don't care about electrical gubbins if they break my bike several times per year. But I do want a bike which gets my pulse racing every time I FIRE IT UP.

Pulse racing bikes and top reliability are rarely found together, simply because lower tuned bikes are more reliable.

No better, no worse. All bikes have issues.

So if it won't start due to an electrical fault...?

Honda Fireblade if you want a reliable fast bike - just watch John McGuinness onboard his Blade at the TT - that'll get your pulse racing.

Correct.

I have been offered an almost new mt-07 for such a cheap finance deal it's a joke. Are they really that bad? Should I hold out for a fireblade/R1/mt-10 when my daily commute is actually under 10 miles anyway?

Regards.

Mt07s are not bad at all, in fact for a budget bike they are hard to beat for value for money and are great fun.

They are nothing like a blade our 31st though.
