Hi,

Are there any BT chaps about

have the main distribution point connected to a master socket, this socket must have been there for a while now as it has old style wiring it seems:

-black
-white
-blue
-orange

does anyone know which of the 6 connectors the wires go into, my google fu skills are failing me, seems as though I'd need to use connector 2 & 5 with blue & orange

I could try it again tomorrow am but I'd need an analogue phone and a bit of trial and error

...being lazy :p

cheers

Have you got a picture? If its the main feed coming from outside then the colours are normally orange/white and green/black (if it's external cable).

You shouldn't really be touching those wires if it is though. But a picture would clear things up a bit if you can post one.

Internal cable is normally blue/white first pair, orange/white, green/white and so on. You are correct in saying its 2 and 5 you use. Blue and orange isn't a standard pair though

sorry, going blind

it is green not blue:

Ah thats better thanks.

If its wired correctly the live pair should be orange and white.
Orange goes to 2 and white to 5. Though if that's the first socket in the house from the external feed then it should already be connected when you had the line installed... And it should be terminated on a proper socket etc.
