hey guys im going to build a customised distro using larch so that when i want to install arch linux i can just install my iso and have it all the way i like it. has anyone done this before? if so how did you find it?

Urm not asking a dumb question but how "customised" does this make your arch install?? From reading about it all it seems to do is do arch with some odd little scripts :s you might as well jsut do a minimal arch install and build up to what you want (pretty simple and not a lot of fun as its to easy) or try out a full on gentoo (theres a build flag that does minimal but i cant remember what it is off the top of my head) and set the compiler to something like -O3 or -Os to make your compilled apps small. You could also challange your self with slackware (i still cant be assed), a mate got a 21meg install for his 486 with 12 meg of ram and a 30meg hdd.......

pingwing, I think you have the wrong idea. I think that the OP is talking about a system for, essentially, respinning an existing arch installation into an installable CD or DVD so that you could take that disk and use it to install clones of the original system.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH now that would make a lot more sence!

Sorry mate i was skim reading something and missed the interlinking bits *feels pretty silly*

Im deffinatally giving this ago tomorrow though! (only to see if they work with gentoo as iv got a good install going but need to re do some partitioning on my hard drive.... and set up sata propperly)

larch is an arch build system allowing you to build arch with scripts to configure the system according to the hardware it is running on, i would use it as a bootable live usb aswell as to install on systems
