Any car for £600

My mate at work needs a car, he has £600. He has currently been driving an L reg Escort 1.6. I reckon he should get the best Mondeo he can for the money. So far i've turned him off Lagunas, but he's hankering for an Escort 1.8 GTI.

Mondeo best bet for him?
 
I would say mondeo.
The amount u get from them and for what u pay is astonishing:)
