I want to get my self a set of basic (but not the cheapest) CD decks and would like some advice if possible
I used to have a set of decks (vinyl) which I used to mix on for fun and kinda looking to pick up the hobby.

Max spend is about £500 though I've seen a lot for cheaper.
ATM I'm looking at Numark's CDN-22Mk4 & DM-1090 Package that a couple of sites do.

Things I wouldlike for my money would be:

  • Ability to scratch would be nice but I dont know how good some of the cheaper units are at this...
  • Not rack-mount as I want it on a desk or table
  • All in one packages are nice like the one I pointed out (Numark)
  • Ability to assign CD samples to buttons'
  • MP3 compatibility would be nice too

Thanks for any help.

I used to be well into my hip hop dj'ing, still got my 12 10's etc. Used to be awesome at scratching, I've got two mixers a 2 channel Stanton scratch mixer with full cross fader curve and reverse and a 3 channel Behringer VMX 300 mixer for mixing.

Infact that makes me want to get the out again now *gets ladder for the loft*.

How long ago was this? Considering you're 16 i mean. :)

Get some Gemini CDJ02's pretty good, I got the CD01's but you cant scratch with them coz they havent got the jog wheel.
The CDJ02's are about £430 ish on some websites with a mixer to.

Have you looked at final scratch? It's the best of both worlds as regards vinyl/cd. You might just be able to squeeze it all in for £500 second hand, although you'd probably be looking at £600.
