What make and model of power supply are you using?

Is the power supply new or an old one?

If the power supply is an old one do you know it was working?

Onboard graphics or separate card?

If a separate graphics card have you connected any power cables required?

Did you fit the motherboard standoffs to the case?

i wonder why the recent guide to fixing your PC problems thread has disappeared, because 3/4 of what's been suggested was definitely in there

psu is a storm 900watt know its working had it running on Q6600 8GB KINGSTON system, found out the memory i've got isn't on the qvl list for the asus mb, using the on-board graphics to i get the system up and running, standoffs all fitted, tried refitting cpu but no join gonna purchase diff memory that def works with setup and see how i get on just hope the cpu ain't goosed

The RAM is unlikely to be a problem unless it's actually faulty.

Motherboard manufacturers can't test every stick of RAM with every motherboard.

I've built many PC's and I don't think any of them used RAM on the QVL.

It's more likely to be that cheap and nasty PSU.

4 pin power connector for the CPU, 2 SATA power connectors and 1 PCI-E power connector.

900W - They're 'avin a larf.

christ, i didnt realise PSU's could get that bad. i'd expect better from a 300W PSU.

before we recommend a PSU, what is the full spec of your computer (just name and number of graphics cards will do tbh)

I7 2600k zalman air cooler sata dvd drive geforce 8400se corsair vengeance 4gb 2000mhz pretty plain setup but want some room for expansion was looking at the corsair psu's 1000w

Ive adapted the pci-e power plug to turn the 4pin connector into an 8 pin connector fot the 8pin atx power but still getting nuthin could the cpu be dead

fault lies within the board dont think its recognizing the i7 2600k bought an asus p8p67-m pro board built it all up to discover the 2600k will only boot up and run in 1 core only tried 3 different power packs tried different memory diff slots tried reseating cpu im totally stumped on this could the cpu be faulty
