Ever since 3D printers came out I've always fancied getting one sometime for a new hobby, Well i hit the buy button and got me a CReality Halot One Resin 3D Printer.

I'm a total beginner, Any suggestions on what's the ideal software of combination of software to use for this specific printer?

So far I've come across Lychee Slicer, Looks to be a great bit of software.

Also any highly recommended 3D Model sites? Don't care if they are free or paid models :)

Hey,

That sidewinder looks impressive, I like the form factor that it doesn't have the wheel thing hanging off the side like a lot do :)

Just had a look on Thingverse and bloody hell there are some impressive models to download for free, Instantly they have two items id like to print one been a headphone stand and the other a holder for solder wire. :)

It is quite impressive that people upload these projects for free.

The sidewinders are quite good but I don’t really like having the heavy spool on top, it isn’t that bad but I think it could make the gantry shake.

Anyway, hope you have some fun when it arrives, pics of things you print are always welcome here. Loads of folk will help, all way more knowledgeable than me.
Yeah i honestly did not expect to find that high of a quality projects for free its amazing! Id be more than happy to pay for a lot of those projects..i like that there's endless stuff you can print.
Can I ask, why did you choose resin over fdm as your first printer?

Hmm, Purely because i come across an advertisement somewhere showing this Halot One and was really impressed with the quality it was showing in the prints. Plus i like the form factor it literally looks like a small PC case and wouldn't look odd on my desk. :)

Ok, resin printing is a different level than fdm. If you haven't already stock up on isopropyl alcohol and gloves, it's messy.

Myminifactory has a lot of models geared towards resin printing.
In a good or bad way? :) Yeah i need to invest in some gloves, I think this resin is water washable, I could be wrong.
Il check out MyMinifactory :)

I've just downloaded a free model of a Rust Autoturret, It prints in pieces and you have to stick it together which is fine, But wondering is this how your meant to set it up or will i have to print each part manually on the bed alone? I've added supports on the Gun/AK so hopefully the supports will snap off or i can cut them off with a Stanley blade.

In a bad way, it's not as forgiving as FDM. Not all resin is water washable and even then you should not be using a domestic sink and you should always where glove with resin. I had a resin printer for a while after using FDM for years and I just didn't use it enough. I had a wash and cure machine too which helps a lot.
I can tell you that, as you have it that print would fail. Nothing can print in mid air and most of the gun wouldn't work. I hope that big round part is hollow or that's a lot of resin and would be to heavy to stay attached.

I'd check out a few YouTube videos, people like Uncle Jessy (https://www.youtube.com/c/UncleJessy/), Thomas Sanladerer did a video which might be useful (https://youtu.be/6TZ2R88rPoo) and 3DPrintingPro does a lot of resin video (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbv2mDrRqXovPdahRyoCFhA/)
Hi,
I believe the one i purchased is indeed water washable, I know about not tipping it down the sink though, What il do for that is save empty large fabric conditioner bottles and empty it into that, Then hopefully il be able to find a place that disposes of hazardous liquids etc..i think my local tip does but i don't know to what extent.

as for that project above, that's how it comes when you download the file, it comes with the gun just sitting on the build plate, On its Grip & Magazine so i added those supports

The large cylinder in that project is hollow yes :)

I've found another id like to print which is this model...

However I'm concerned about the gun again, Will i need to add supports from the plate up to the gun or will it be fine to print as is?
