Any CV pros or recruiters?

I put the number of years experience at the top of my CV.

"Blah blah technician with 8 years experience in the blah field etc..."

Agencies have hundreds of CVs to get through so they rarely get past the first page. Although these days they seem to just paste your CV into their database and search for keywords.

As for GCSEs, would it be ok to list my GCSEs without grades? I did ok in English, Maths, Double Science, Media, IT etc. but do not recall my grades, and those I do remember (like IT) have questionable grades given the role (100% on Intermediate test gave me max grade - C for IT) because I was put in for the wrong test - this isn't really something you can explain on the CV though.

My C.V. now just states 11 GCSE A-C and maths, physics and IT A levels (no mention of grades). Not had to use it yet, but I have the opinion unless the grades are high it is better to not mention the actual grade/score.

I agree, saying "11 GCSEs A-C" or similar is fine if they are your highest academic qualification. Listing grades is a waste of valuable space for someone with years of experience.

Yes that looks excellent, nice work :)
It's a bit of effort I know, but when you see the results it makes sense. Now I can get a feeling for the actual work you've done.

Please don't forget to put company names, and really pimp yourself on recognisable brands - a CV is all about self-promotion.

Don't worry about it not looking 'well designed' (it looks fine by the way), as you're a dev, people are looking for content and coding skill.

Thanks, it's only taken a few hours and has actually been quite enjoyable - it has been a long time since I've done anything just for myself.

I've even made sure the site is accessible, beyond that fancy ajax and animations, the site will actually function just fine with javascript disabled. It also validates just fine (first time, as usual ;) )

Now I just need to get the rest of the case studies filled in, do a bit more cross-browser testing, as a potential employer is bound to check something like this on IE6, to get a feel for how thorough I am.

You've created some nice sites but I would remove that photo of yourself (no offence intended, I just think it looks unprofessional).

Thanks for the advice, but I really think I'm happy with it there. Not only does it let a potential employer put a face to the job application, but adds a little something to the site as a whole (I think it would be incredibly dull with just text!).

I'm not sure unprofessional is the word, but I see where you are coming from and I don't see it is a problem - there needs to be a bit of character there IMO.
