I've been pondering the triple pack of TP Link Deco M5's for a while and finally pulled the trigger yesterday but have one or two queries - does anyone have this system?

I think I've got mine up and running OK but the nodes to which various devices seem to connect to is a little baffling to say the least!

For example, I've got the main node plugged into my router in the utility room and then one node in the master bedroom almost directly above and the 3rd in the furthest room upstairs - these all say connected fine but I've got a WiFi printer in my study, approximately 1m from the 3rd node.....and yet the Deco app is telling me that the printer is connecting to the node in the utility!?!?

This isn't the only example - a fair few of my devices seem to be connecting to random nodes, sometimes the last one you would expect for it to be connecting to, with no way to change this??

Has anyone else experienced this with the Deco systems??

I have these and occasionally have the same issue. It's not down to the M5's as it is the client device that decides which node to connect to.

Make sure fast roaming is turned on and most devices that support 802.11r like iPhones, laptops, etc will be usually connect to the nearest device. However I do find it is the static devices like an old smart TV and printer that connect to the wrong Deco unit occasionally. Turning them on and off seems to make them reconnect to the "correct" one.

I have turned off beamforming on mine as I have a theory that it might stop devices hanging on to a weaker further away signal. Not sure if it made a difference or not.

Thanks for the tips - I'll give them a try!
