any diff going from pc 6400 to 8500

Not really as the memory timings on the 8500 memory are generally looser than on the 6400. If you go with 6400 C4 you can change the timings to C5 and run close to 8500 anyway. this would work out cheaper than just going for the 8500.

what kind of fsb speeds are you planning on trying to run at?

If your CPU FSB is not greater than 400, then you will not likely exploit the overhead of PC8500 memory. You get the best results when OCing the CPU with the RAM.

I have just gone from Crucial ballistic 5300 to Reaper PC8000 and clock for clock, at the same spd settings, the crucial is faster. (2gig to 4 gig)
I was overclocked with a FSB of 389 x 9, and a clock multiplier of 2 with the crucial at 5 5 5 18 and got a sisoft benchmark (bandwidth) of 6800. At a multiplier of 2.5 with the Reaper, 5 5 5 18, I got the same! If I put the devider down to 2, the same as the crucial, I actually only get 6200?
This was tested in Vista 64 vit, and XP, at a voltage of 2.1v, I only hope I can get some
improvement or else I will have wasted some money. Just as a last word, tweaking the crucial I could get 7400 on sisoft stable, it just did not fit in with my CPU overclock.
