Any difference between this XFX Zalman 4890 and the others?

Upgrading my PC and the 4980's seem to be a good pick price/performance wise and i was wondering if this card was better or worse than any of the other 4890's?

I selected this because it is in the 'this week only' sale. I am hoping to buy a card that will satisfy potential gaming requirements (4 months old twins + ps3 + banned from playing warcraft = not much gaming on the pc these days but you never know) while not sounding like a 747 at takeoff.

Thanks,
Dub

Might as well end this thread now - i just read about the HD 5xxx launch being around the corner. Ill struggle along with my XT850 until that is launched :)

I would imagine a bigger, better, quieter fan to keep the card cooler than the stock cooling solution. But I could not find any reviews. I might pick up 2x4890s rather than a 5870 if they are cheaper at launch.

to be honest 1x4890 is more than i need - but i heard the 5xxx will be quieter and use less power which given the racket my xt850 makes is very attractive for me. I'm also a superstar at buying 'last years technology' and this time im going to make sure I buy the latest and greatest. Of course all of this to go with the last years socket motherboard I am buying because i cant wait for i5 /sigh

New cards are usually not quieter by default - yes, the change to manufacturing process going to a smaller die size means less heat, however most likely they will just use that as an opportunity to bump the speed of the chip and put the same cooler on it.

The Zalman coolers are good, and a 4890 will last you a while. Question is, do you wait until the 5x00 cards are out and see if the 4890 comes down in price, or splash out now?

The way I understand it the next generation is due out in less than a month, so it may be worth holding off.
