Hi , im running a amd x2 5000 on an asus M3A am2+ board, would i notice any difference in Crysis if i upgraded to either a x2 6400 or a quad core 9850. The rig is mainly used for gaming, cheers

I'd say it's unlikely, as far as I know graphics cards are almost always the limiting factor in Crysis.

I'm ready to be proved wrong :p

Ive just got myself a 4870 but still seem to be struggling so was wondering if my cpu was the problem..
Also which one would be best the quad or the 6400
Thanks again

Run task manager in the back round and monitor the cpu usage while you run crysis.
If both cores are pinned at 100% then a faster cpu will help. If not you are not likely to notice any difference.

It is limited with amd dual core cpus though. My framerate went up 12 fps going from a 3Ghz 4200+x2 to a 3.6Ghz Q6600 and graphics card left as per sig.

cant hurt to try clocking the 5000+, if its one of the more recent cores it should do 3ghz maybe 3.2 - the 6400+ only really has a few hundred more in it above that (mine jsut about runs 3.5) and thats if your lucky.

Thanks for the advice, ive managed to get hold of a 6000 x2 cheap so will pop that in and see if theres any difference.
If not , then looking at the Crysis benchmark scores looks like got to save some money and upgrade to an Intel platform.
