I have quite a number of dvds but watched very few with the commentary going (I can't remember the last one I listened to).

Are there any that are actually really entertaining, as if the people watching it are really enjoying themselves rather than simply fulfilling a contract requirement?

I think the Troma DVD release of Cannibal: The Musical has a commentary with Trey Parker and Matt Stone progressively getting more drunk throughout the movie. Been meaning to get my hands on that for YEARS.

The recent Night of the Demons remake DVD/Blu-ray release has a really good and fun commentary track too.

Recently I've been listening to the South Park commentaries.

It's really interesting to hear Matt and Trey speak about South Park. Shame they only do it for 4 minutes on every episode except the first season, the movie and Imaginationland where they do a long commentary.

Really enjoy listening to most commentaries. They give you a better appreciation for films/tv series.

I've still got a dozen commentaries i need to listen to for shows on my dvd/blu ray shelf.

I thought the commentaries on the LOTR dvd's were pretty interesting.

Aye the red dwarf commentaries are usually fun, and one of the reasons I got the individual sets rather than the "just the shows" sets, the behind the scenes extras are also quite good (I think it's S5 or 6 where they have a clip from shooting the first starbug landing of the series which goes slightly wrong).

Generally most cast commentaries tend to be interesting, any a lot of crew/directors ones are good, just avoid any commentaries by Jonathan Frakes as crew/director (I can't remember what series it was, but his commentaries as a director of the series were awful, boring, not even interesting "And here I thought I'd use a high camera" no explanation/reasoning).

The Alien/Aliens commentaries on the other hand tend to be great, the Aliens directors one has some great lines/stories about the filming, things that happened, why they did what they did and how they did it (who knew the smoke effect they used for burning rubber was later banned for health reasons...).

Don't know about the best but the worst ever was Starship Troopers. It was basically Paul Verhoeven saying which bits were real or which were special effect.

Kevin Smith films
Red Dwarf *as mentioned above*
The Mummy *Brendan Fraser's commentary*
UHF
Conan the Barbarian
Ghostbusters
Goonies
Armageddon *Affleck - he rips the film apart :D*
Brazil
Evil Dead Trilogy
Bubba Ho-Tep *Elvis' commentary*
Orgazmo
The Usual Suspects
Cannibal! The Musical *they've got a drinking game*
Recent Muppet films normally have a couple of Muppets in with them
Shaun Of The Dead

Rifftrax tend to be pretty funny as well.

i enjoy family guy commentries (well most of them as odd one or two is a bit lacking of information), star wars and lotr. you've got 6 sw filmes and 3 lotr films, which has iirc 3 different commentaries per film so a lot to listen to. i find them entertaining
