Trying to get a holiday sorted for this summer. Fancied a week on a Greek island.

Found a lovely house on VRBO. The host has been with VRBO for 3 years, yet the house has zero reviews and is has no booked slots - I can't see how long the house has been marketed.

I've sent some questions off, partly to see if they answer. A couple of the question need local knowledge so if the place is cloned they won't be able to answer.

I know that VRBO pre-dates airbnb, but does anyone have any previous experience with VRBO or can let me know what to check in terms of scams, that would be great.

The place doesn't seem to be advertised anywhere else.

Part of the Expedia Group run from the USA, so should be legit.

You certain the same place isn’t on Booking or ABNB? Sometimes, people see a place they like on the big platforms and then search for it direct. Given the margin the platforms use, this can often save the guests money and pay the hosts more.

I recruit for them, they're a huge business and Expedia biggest growth sector. So VRBO definitely a decent company - i know nothing about the house though.

Checked pretty thouroughly. It's only on VRBO, other site just end up linking to VRBO.

I've emailed them, let see how fast the respond. I've asked them why there are no bookings and no reviews. Lets see what they say....

All good stuff - I'm happy about VRBO, but the house just seems suss. Great location, fair price (not overly cheap). Can't understand why it's not booked up/reviewed.

Plus the owner is just down as a generic name "Holiday House" with no other properties I can find.
