I'm currently trying to work out how to do something at the moment and I think that fetchmail is the tool for the task but I haven't use t much before and I'm not sure of how to configure it to do what I want.
My main email is via Demon and they use a multidrop mail box system, (i think thats the correct term). Hence i can have [email protected], [email protected] etc ... where hostname is unique to the account and fred, bob, etc can be anything. I can view all this mail in the same mailbox if logged into it with postmaster authority or just thats users mail if connected as them.
Now, as I have had this for quite some time I do get a level of spam to it. Now spam to ids which are in use is not an issue as its fairly minimal and is handled by the mail clients fine. My main problem is I get quite a bit of spam to other ids which are not, and never have been, in use.
Now the bulk of these goes to about 5 unique names so what i would like to do is have something like fetchmail connect via POP3 and just delete everything for these ids leaving the other mail untouched. I don't want to download all mail to a local MTA or client as the rest of the family use this but do not have access to my local system, (and are spread out over the country).
Anybody have any ideas on this?
Cheers
