Hi all

are there any out there under £30? Dont need phone line as the old man pays for it so only looking for fibre only.

Have been with Viviciti for last 6ish years and never really had any problems, unlimited usage but only 12mb line and with about 6 people using in the day can get bogged down. Need an upgrade or just looking for something else!

Cheers

When you refer to "phone line" do you mean you want an internet provider who does not require a BT line? If so, your options are pretty limited. You could try Virgin Media who have their own independent fibre optic / coaxial network, or see if there are any altnet providers who cover your area: Hyperoptic, Gigaclear etc. SamKnows is a good website for checking what options you have: https://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker

Yeah wasn't after a phone line but looks like everyone want to tie you into a phone line and fibre package.
Thanks for the link, looks like I am limited to the usual, no cable. Sky/BT/Talktalk are the main ones.

Save money and faster speed? From what OP said he's on ADSL still if only 12Mb, so wants to upgrade to fibre? Unless on a really long FTTC line.

Why bother paying 2 companies, as even if old man is paying line rental. The fact OP then pays broadband, the cost will be the god damn same, if not more!

Seriously...

+1 have a look at Vodafone's new fibre line deal.

You do of course pay line rental, but Vodafone are one of the first to start incorporating the costs into 1 headline price.

Agreed.

Over the next few months there will become more choice as well as ISP's will be able to purchase Openreach's SoGEA product. Essentially offering FTTC without the line rental charges...

Apparently the “Alpha” trial will now start in October 2016, with a “Beta” trial set to follow in April 2017 and the final Pilot due to happen in August 2017.

I don't think ISPs will charge less.

Vodafone looks good, they do Up to 38Mbps @ £25 with no line rental but there isn't much info on people using it at the moment, specially with big downloads/streaming. Customer service seems poor and getting into an 18 month contract is turn off without knowing how good they are! Edit: Also their router seems to be a pile of crap!

Zen looks good with 12months but expensive at over £38 a month

Plusnet is cheaper than both but have had issues lately with throttling etc

Hhhmmmm decisions, more investigating I think

If you don't have an issue moving both line and internet over, Sky and BT have decent deals on for fibre currently.

BT charge £15pm plus £18.99 line rental. Bonus £125 reward card offer is back on, plus you can get cash back via Quidco or Top Cashback.

Sky £10pm plus £17.40 line rental. Again sure you can get some cashback too via Quidco or TCB.

Thanks mate, but trying to keep line separate.

Plusnet looks to be the one so far but the damn throttling is putting me off but I guess it will be still faster than my current 12MB connection

I must admit I'm totally confused now. So to clarify...

You have a copper phone with calls that are already being paid for. This must also include line rental? Who is the provider for this?

You are looking for an FTTC service (fibre and then copper into the house)?

I'm almost certain that you are going to be paying over the odds by paying for phone and broadband totally separately...

Vodafone's FTTC service is very good. I can't comment on the quality of the bundled router as I am not using it, but latency and speeds are good. No IPv6, though.
