After the archery thread I thought that I'd ask about fly fishing ..... anyone doing it?

I have not been out this season yet but intend to pop out to the local reservoir soon; I also fish the rivers around here so not just a reservoir man.

A quiet day out in the countryside, away from all the noise and stress; just the sound of the occasional sheep whilst trying to drop a sedge next to a recent rise ..... perfect.

I prefer coarse fishing with float or leger, though I prefer the float.

I'll be toddling off for a day out with my old man some time soon.

I have been getting into coarse fishing in the last 12 months or so, slowly building up knowledge and kit as i go along, i find it really really relaxing and great fun!

Not sure fishing is something widely done on the boards but globally isnt it the most participated "sport" ?

I coarse fish more than fly fish, cant beat a good fly fishing session when theres trout about though. HOO HOO

Never tried fly fishing, me and my bro go coarse fishing all the time though around North/East/South Yorkshire/Derbyshire/Notts etc. Can't beat it:cool:

Used to do a bit of fly fishing in my younger days but haven't been for many years.

My Dad is a keen angler and is still to be found up to his chest in lochs on a regular basis at the tender age of 66.

I'm a hardcore fly-fisherman, caught a 12lb Bluebottle once!

Seriously though, yup do a lot of fly fishing in rivers and lakes, don't like fisheries much, even fly-fish off the sea shore (beach/rocks) for Bass, although only ever got Mackerel heheh.

Can't beat catching a wild brownie in a Snowdonian lake on a #3-4WT rod and a home tied fly! Just reminded me to fix a leak in my waders too :p
